Alfiera - The Wines

La Tota - Barbera d’Asti D.O.C.
This wine takes its name from one of the winery’s historical Barbera vineyards: “La Tota” which in Piedmontese language means “young lady”. This Barbera wine has a sound structure, a perfume of mature fruit and a soft, captivating taste. It is ready for consumption one year after harvest, but it may be aged up to 4 or 5 years.

Alfiera - Barbera d’Asti Superiore D.O.C.
The hills of San Martino Alifieri are superbly located for the production of the Barbera vine. The Alfiera wine derives its name from the historical vineyard owned by the Alfieri family for three hundred years. The vineyard is fully exposed facing towards the South and the rows of vines, which were planted in 1037, run from East to West. The density of plantings is 4500 plants per hectare.

The Alfiera is the “cru” of the winery, a wine which yields a geat tannic structure, colour and aging potential (over ten years). It is released for distribution around two years after vintage.

San Germano - Pinot Noir
The Marchesi Alfieri are proud of this specialty which is a product of Pinot Noir grapes from the vineyard which was chosen by Count Camillo Cavour upon recommendation of the French enologist Oudard tointeroduce the Pinot Noir to the Piedmont Region. This wine has an excellent structure and long aging potential, like its grand cousins of Burgundy. It reaches its best at least three years after vintage.
