wine_on_the_beach_400Summer has settled with a little late this year. Many fruits and vegetables from early summer seemed a little “diluted” … However, the heat wave arrived, lending a helping hand to maturation. Summer is here! He often combines vacation, light meals, gourmet, fine, subtle … and to accompany the meal, the wine was seduced!
For you, Midi-Vin has selected a series of summer wine that you can safely link to your summer fun … A little levity for the holidays and summer meals, we only ask that!

The red wines of summer

Mas Espanet – “Freesia” 2009 – Vin de Pays d’Oc
Syrah – Grenache
red wine – € 5.40

The color of this wine is a ruby red light. Clear, it presents bright raspberry highlights.
The first nose is not very clear (synthetic cork!). A short cooling may be necessary (to open at least 10 minutes before serving).
Then, the nose opens on fresh fruit (blackberry, cherry). We feel the mark, the strong note of intense fruit often associated with licorice for Syrah.
On the palate, the attack is supple, fresh and fluid. The roundness in the mouth is nice. This flexibility balanced with the lightness of tannins just detectable. We perceive generously fruity and liquorice nose levied.

With this line freesia creates for summer events, Dominique Armand offers wines and refreshing thirst with the red wine that reveals an interesting fruit mousse. Served slightly chilled, this wine will accompany your entries with successful summer and grilled white meat. A fluidity and lightness welcome to avoid a sudden drop in the summer!

The preceptories of Centernach – “Zoe” 2008 – Cotes du Roussillon Villages
Grenache – Syrah – Carignan – Mourvèdre, Merlot
Red Wine – 6,90 €

Midi-Vin wanted select two very different red wines. The first was very smooth and fairly light. It is more fleshy, more solar, more concentrated. He will join a rather barbecue evening, richer (prime rib, for example).

The dress is more dense, ruby red with violet tints.
The nose is more sun! He recalled the warm stone, blackberry, blackberry … with a nice intensity!
The palate is creamy, delicious. The tannins are velvety and contribute to the roundness of all! The aromas that we feel are reminiscent of red fruits, blackberries. The length is not exceptional but it bears fruit flavors enjoyable.

This wine – tougher – will see a good eye a short stint in the refrigerator (used to 17-18 degrees C). His gluttony reveal your grill and your southern dishes.

Rosé Wines Summer

Domaine Clavel – 2009 Mescladis – Coteaux du Languedoc / Pic Saint Loup
Grenache – Cinsault – Syrah – Mourvedre
Rosé wine – € 6.30

Pierre Clavel acquired in 2009 ten hectares in AOC Pic Saint Loup. These lands allow it to develop between her pretty pink other Mescladis AOC Coteaux du Languedoc / Pic Saint Loup.

A rosé wine fuchsia dress and has salmon-pink highlights.
On the nose, the aromas are intense, fruity and delicious. They remind amyl fruity notes that we perceive in fermentation. There is also a hint of caramel. Is greedy!
On the palate, the attack is round, full and creamy. Everything is easy to drink, fairly smooth, caressing … a pink summer obviously!

Coupled with a chiffonade of ham, this rosé is great. Serve chilled of course!

Area Gournier – pink 2009 – PGI Cevennes
Cabernet Sauvignon – Grenache – Syrah – Mourvedre
rosé wine – 3,70 €

Exit Vin de Pays des Cevennes, up to now the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Cevennes. Domaine de Gournier has adapted to the new naming system. The estate wines Gournier offer value for money exceptional!

Like the previous pink, this wine has a dress for a pretty intense pink (if you consider that the pale pink Provencal represent the reference, which is not my case but all tastes are in nature …).
On the nose, the fruity notes are nice, amyl and recall the strawberry tagada (less pronounced anyway!).
In the mouth, it is cooler. The wine seems keener less creamy, more dry! In retro-olfaction, we find the berries but, this time, the gooseberry.

This low cost wine is the perfect companion for summer meals everyday! Lively, fruity and expressive, it will accompany the cold meats and summer barbecues. For this price, you should not do without it!

The white wines were:

Mas Espanet – “Freesia” 2009 – Vin de Pays d’Oc
Grenache Blanc-Viognier
white wine – € 5.40

For the version “white wine” in this range Freesia, Dominique Armand offers a nice white wine to dress lightly golden yellow and green tints.
The nose develops aromas of intense fruit. Fairly complex nose of successively white fruit (pear, peach) fruit with yellow flesh (apricot, pineapple). It also gets a subtle note of melted sugar. A very pretty nose!
The palate is very drinkable, smooth and refreshing. It remains in the style of Freesia Espanet Mas! The finish is fruity with great simplicity. It slides into your mouth!

This white wine is perfect accompaniment to the cheese after dinner … and why not your shell!

Area of Coujan – “Rolle” 2009 – Vin de Pays des Coteaux de Murviel
Vermentino (also known as Rolle)
white wine – 6 €

Castle Coujan (by domain name because the castle is reserved for wines from AOC) surprises us with its wine fair, honest and delicious.

In this vintage, the grape Vermentino is Rolle or honored. He reveals all his qualities!
The color is pale yellow with green reflections marked.
The nose is complex, expressive. There is a fruity (pineapple, lemon) which is associated with a delicate scent of fennel … it’s very significant! After cooling, the floral notes appear smooth.
On the palate, the attack is smooth, pretty cool. It has good acidity to balance out the mid-palate. The lively and fun aspect of wine is nice. The finish reminds acid fruits (grapefruit, lemon).

A true wine pleasure to share your summer shellfish … Vermentino is definitely the perfect companion for summer dining! Take the next step …

I only wish you good summer meals in the company of these wines enjoyable and refreshing! Happy holidays … Cheers and good tasting the wines of summer!
