2009vintageDry whites

The warm days of late August have not been ideal for the development of dry white wines. Some wines lacked freshness of fruit, acidity and taste too low gives centers a little soft. The differences in maturity of grapes can alleviate these sensations ripest wines suffer from lack of tone in the middle palate. For my part, a preference for the dry whites from the ocean vintages (less sun) to slow ripening grapes like 2007 and 2008. These wines are pure fruit, blood, and lots of freshness, while being well structured.

The Liqueur

The year 2009 is remarkable in Sauternes and Barsac in, like 2001 and 2007, signing more air, but well prepared with botrytis grapes (for the best pickings). Sauternes and Barsac 2009 are pure, intense, rich, and the best wines have a very pure botrytis, some wines are more affluent than others, but always with a fresh enough that participates in the balance of the wine.

2009 will of wines to keep long-garde, despite a more immediate than 2001

Awards

Most sweet wines are already on the market, except for three or four brands. For a great majority of wines, prices are reasonable considering the quality of the vintage, I think particularly Daene Doisy, Clos Haut Guiraud and Peyraguey, which should allow enthusiasts to acquire some bottles

Many wines of Pomerol are already on sale, the price of Gazin happily beyond that of 2005, and augurs Pharaonic increases for thirty or forty properties “flagship” of Bordeaux. Prizes totally unaffordable for most buyers in North America or Europe in this period of crisis, whose output could be much slower than expected

It will remain at Bordeaux wine lovers to seek less prestigious brands, keeping in mind the quality found in names such as Côtes de Castillon and Fronsac, some properties of Saint Emilion, the wines from Moulis, and successes Medoc and Haut Medoc, in sum be curious first ….
